I don't know how well I did with the holiday today. Leading up to today I was not so interested in doing anything for the day. And as it was somewhat of a minor holiday I thought I could get away with it.
Lily went off to school wearing head to toe green and I change my shirt at the last minute to the only thing I owned with any green on it.
When we picked up Lily from school I dressed Noah up in his Sham Rock shirt from last year. Since it was so awfully cold, I got his winter coat back out as well.. which just so happens to be mostly green. I figured that would be the extent of it.
I figured wrong. School doesn't let me get away with anything. Lily was SO excited about "the leprechaun" when I picked her up I knew I was in trouble. She pulled 5 pieces of giant glitter out of her pocket that the leprechaun had left at school. And she went on and on and on about how he made a mess and that's what they do. And how she was so excited to see what he did at our house. Shit.
Well he hadn't done anything at our house, of course, she was a little bit crushed to see. Soo.. I made, sort of, green milk with some icing gel. Because that was all I had. It was hardly, hardly, the lightest light green, ever. Then I picked out all the green Goldfish crackers from a mixed bag I had and put them in a bowl. I added in a shirt I hadn't given Lily yet and left them on the table in the kitchen. I threw pieces of scrap paper all over the floor and walked out.
I put the laundry in the dryer and started back towards the kitchen. I stopped short and (pretended to) yell about 'who did this?!' in the kitchen.
Lily and I eventually determined that it must have been 'the leprechaun.' And it was great. Until she wanted to know where the note he left was.
